Just Therapy is born out of a desire to go back to what therapy should be – effective, ethical, and free from ideology.

We are an association of therapists and counsellors aligned by common ethics and principles. Unfortunately, much of the world of psychotherapy and counselling has been taken over by activists and ideologies, which risk harming, rather than supporting, the mental wellbeing of clients. Our members, who come from a wide range of disciplines and specialities, have signed up to our Code of Conduct.

Our Code of Conduct

The first step in pushing back against ideological capture in mental healthcare is to offer prospective clients a clear path to finding therapists who will stand up for, and conduct their practice in accordance with:

Non-Judgement

We won’t pass judgement on you because of your beliefs, opinions, or viewpoints, political or otherwise.

Neutrality

We won’t preach or push ideologies on you, such as gender ideology or critical race theory. We are clinicians, not activists.

Identity-Politics Free Zone

We will view you as the individual that you are and not make assumptions about you, positive or negative, just because of your skin colour, religion, sex or indeed any other characteristic.

Evidence-Based Practise

We are guided by scientific and evidence-based theories.

Exploration, Not Affirmation

We do not view our purpose as being to tell you whatever you want to hear. We will explore what you bring to sessions openly and may even challenge you, in order to help you get to where you need to be.

Resilience

We are not fragile, in need of safe spaces or trigger warnings. Our goal is to build up your strength and resiliency, rather than enabling self-perpetuating narratives of victimhood.

Free Speech

We believe that human beings and societies flourish when they embrace free speech and do not attempt to shut others down.

A note from our founder

I have spent years fighting back against dangerous ideologies that have taken over the world of psychotherapy and impacted upon the wellbeing of clients.

I have had personal victories and vindication in this space, including forcing the UK Council for Psychotherapy to acknowledge the valid professional belief that children should not be irreversibly medicalised in the name of gender ideology.

Now, I am pleased to announce that I am stepping back into private practice to set up Just Therapy.
