I am imagining that if you are here, you are worried about yourself or someone you know, or perhaps you are a parent looking for support for your young person? I understand that when looking for support for gender-questioning individuals, there are unique worries and concerns that can arise, so you are in the right place!

I am an experienced therapist working in a secondary school in Hackney, where the need for support for gender questioning individuals is part of my daily life. I help young people navigate the often bumpy road to adulthood. With a non-judgemental, curious approach, I create a safe and open space where individuals can explore their thoughts and feelings, particularly when it comes to identity and mental health challenges. I don’t offer advice or hold firm affirmations—rather, my role is to listen, reflect, and provide a space where young people can untangle the difficult struggles they may face, without political influence or external pressures. My goal is to help both the young person and their family navigate these complex emotions with clarity and patience, creating space for open dialogue and understanding on their own terms.

It’s ironic that a large part of psychotherapeutic work is around trying to convince people that their perceived ‘abnormal’ feelings and behaviours are a completely ‘normal’ reaction to a set of, often very difficult life circumstances. For instance, why wouldn’t someone have a generalised feeling of persistent anxiety and low mood, when they have to live in what seems like a crazy and confusing world? In therapy, we can work toward a more accepting and benevolent view of ourselves. We can explore who you truly are and where you might truly want to go in life, without the harsh inner voices of the past. We can work together to help you identify self-defeating patterns so that you can find agency for change. Whatever your problems, whether you’re experiencing more severe trauma or just struggling with every day life, therapy can help. Whatever your difficulties, weird thoughts or feelings, we just need to sort things out a bit. This is the first step toward clearer understanding.

After training at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, I went into news broadcasting at the BBC World Service. Later, I spent 9 years in government Scrutiny and although I enjoyed the democratic process, after a considerable period of self-reflection and a revaluation of my life, I went on to train, and found meaning in working, as a psychotherapist.

My name is Jason and I am an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering short and long term counselling in-person and online. I work with individuals, couples and groups.

How I work

There are many reasons why people choose to come to therapy but whatever the reason it is a commitment of time, money and an investment in yourself. Each person I work with is different and therefore so is the therapy but I like to work creatively using images, exploring dreams, fantasies, meditation and guided imagery to help you uncover the meaning you have given your experiences. We will, at some point, look at your childhood, how you experienced your parents and siblings, what school was like, what messages you took from your early life. We will also look at where you are on life’s journey, where you find purpose, meaning and belonging. The freedom to be different than you are will often emerge out of the curiosity you develop toward your deepest, often darkest, desires and needs.

Couples and relationship counselling
Conflict is the primary reason couples seek help. Conflict is natural in any relationship but sometimes it can feel like differences are so entrenched you question whether you can stay together. Alternatively you feel you know each other so well life together has become boring or you’ve lost the spark you once had. In relationship therapy It is important that both of partners are heard, and that you hear each other, however difficult this can be. Once you feel more able to listen to each other we focus on getting you back in touch, improving communication, rebuilding trust and rediscovering the joy of being together. Sometimes couples have already decided to separate and come to therapy to do so intelligently. Relationship therapy is not only for those in romantic relationships.

Hyper-sexual behaviour & porn addiction
Has sex become a problem rather than a joy for you? Has using porn gone from an occasional enjoyment to problematic behaviour? Are you seeing sex workers more than you ever wanted to? The type of behaviour does not define a compulsion. The essential difference between the addict and the non-addict is that these behaviours feel out of control. An addict may spend an inordinate amount of time planning, engaging in and recovering from their chosen sexual activity. In spite of the physical, emotional, relational, financial and even judicial cost of these activities, they feel unable to stop, or at least unable to stay stopped. In a nutshell the solution is to rediscover true intimacy.

I work with:
Those who feel there is something missing but perhaps don’t know what
Mid-life and other crises of meaning
Couples and relationship difficulties
Sexual compulsivity or hyper sexual behaviour
Porn addiction
Chemsex
Sex workers
Current and former rough sleepers
Terminal illness and end of life
Trauma
Gender Dysphoria and Detransitioners
Personality Disorders
Anxiety attacks
Depression

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and an accredited member of the International Association of Psychology and Counselling (UK).

Sessions lasts for 50 minutes and the minimum number is six. These usually take place in the same time slot each week. I can see you face to face at A Space To Be You (Mare Street, London E8) St Paul’s (ECIA) or online if you are anywhere else in the world.

I understand therapy as an activity in three domains: healing, personal growth and spiritual awakening. This follows from my practice as an integrative psychotherapist, based largely on existentialist, psychoanalytic and Jungian insights. A powerful endeavour that could, variously, lead you to a greater sense of peace in your daily living, a promotion at work, richer relationships, or a greater sense of connection with the universe. The curious thing is that from a place of struggle, doubt and pain we can not only learn to contain these experiences but then discover a world beyond them. This work happens through a range of emotional, cognitive, embodied and relational experiences/efforts. We examine your past, your life’s context and your present, with a view to helping you face the future with resilience. If you’re willing to work hard we might just be the right fit for each other.

I am a London-based counsellor and coach, with an extensive background in Psychology. In my client work, I specialise in the following psychological topics: anxiety, depression, relationships, low confidence and low self-esteem, OCD and addictions.

The client journey is never the same but, in most cases, it starts with helping you pinpoint your current challenges and struggles and get clarity on your belief patterns and behaviour. In addition, we will also try to envision what the term “better life” looks like. Once this is clear, we will move into understanding how these patterns came to be and where they stem from. Next, we will explore what role they are playing in your current situation and how they are impacting your life. Finally, I help you explore and decide what changes must take place for you to improve, live a better life and avoid running into the same situations in the future.

Psycho-education plays an important part in my counselling and coaching work – I do my best to help you get acquainted with psychological concepts and frameworks. This will enable you to continuously expand your self-understanding long after we have finished working together.

I have extensive training in peri and postnatal stages of life as well I can offer support to individuals and couples going through fertility issues. My practice approach is honest, non-judgemental, relational, engaging and flexible; tailored to each client’s need as every person is different and requires a different way of working.
