I am a psychoanalyst working within the Lacanian tradition with over 20 years clinical experience. My particular area of interest and expertise is in the field of trauma. This includes both historical traumas stemming from early childhood experiences and traumas in the here-and-now, for example, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A book version of my doctoral thesis on the topic of traumatic neurosis has been published as part of the Palgrave Lacan series.
I am particularly interested in how psychoanalysis can challenge the dominant ‘mental health’ paradigm that sees trauma as something purely ‘external’ to the individual and which treats people as ‘passive victims’ of life events. Instead, my focus is on how individuals experience and interpret such events.
