I will approach work with you flexibly, led by your situation.  I am particularly interested in existential work – what brings meaning to life, identity in its widest sense and a focus beyond oneself.  In sessions, I tend to start with where you are now, and what you most need; we then we look at what might have led to this point, and then how we can make changes moving forward.  My work centres on “what has happened to you?” rather than “what is wrong with you?”.  A lot of emotional distress arises from what are, in fact, normal reactions to adverse and difficult situations.

For me, any diagnosis you may have informs our work, rather than defines it.  Where appropriate, I work creatively, using story-telling, art materials and sand tray work.  I have a particular interest in child development, and follow closely the work of the Harvard Center on the Developing Child.  I am also a qualified facilitator of the Tuning into Teens parenting programme. I am a member of Thoughtful Therapists.
