I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, having completed my training in 2010 and holding a BSc (Hons) degree in Integrative Counselling. My approach draws from person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential perspectives, allowing me to tailor therapy to the individual needs of each client. I work with both adult female and male clients, offering a supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences safely.

I have experience providing emotional and psychological support for a wide range of issues, including drug and alcohol addiction, bereavement, anxiety, stress, and the everyday challenges that can weigh us down. I believe that counselling is not only for times of crisis — sometimes, we just need a trusted space to talk things through with someone who understands and listens with empathy. You can be assured that my therapeutic relationships are built upon trust and honesty, and I therefore, abide by the guiding principles set out by Just Therapy.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially if you’re living with anxiety, overthinking, low mood, or adjusting to big life changes. You might be navigating menopause, questioning your relationships, or coming to terms with a diagnosis of autism or ADHD. Perhaps you simply feel lost, disconnected, or unsure of your purpose.

I’m a qualified, NCPS accredited counsellor. I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where you don’t have to mask, perform, or pretend you’re okay. My approach is calm, compassionate, and conversational. Together, we’ll gently explore what’s going on for you at your own pace, with no pressure or judgement. I offer gentle challenge too, encouraging self-reflection while always respecting your autonomy.

Many clients find that over time they gain self-awareness, untangle a busy mind, and begin to notice patterns and triggers more clearly. Therapy can bring relief, a stronger sense of self, and decisions that align with your values. If you’d like to see how I might support you, I offer a free initial chat — a chance for us to connect and take things from there.

Complex Anxiety, OCD, Pure O, ADHD, and Depression are my specialities. I particularly enjoy working with intelligent, strong, creative, and quirky individuals with complex personalities. I believe that if you could invest as much energy in pursuing your dreams as you do in fighting your anxiety or OCD, you’d likely find great success (or enjoy the success you already have).

My approach is direct, practical, and instructional. I offer clear, actionable tools to help you consciously reprogram your unconscious mind to transform old patterns of fear, doubt, and pessimism into new ones of calmness, trust, and optimism.

With over two decades of experience as a therapist specialising in complex anxiety, along with my recovery from OCD and depression and my background as an engineer, I focus on teaching effective Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) techniques. I also guide you in developing essential life skills that retrain your brain and desensitise your body.

Together, we will strive to let your heart guide your decisions rather than relying solely on logic. This will help cultivate a more meaningful and action-oriented mindset, allowing you to ask, “What action, in this moment, will bring me closer to who I want to be and the life I desire to live?”

Together, we can explore what is happening in your life now that is causing distress and wonder what part the experiences of your past have played. Free from judgement, you may be able to accept yourself in a way that enables you to go forward with a new sense of belonging in the crazy world we all find ourselves in.

By ‘psychotherapy’, I mean a relationship characterised by attempts at: truthfulness, apt trust, straightforwardness, accountability, understanding, vulnerability, care-taking, assertiveness, respect, self-knowledge, courage, dignity, acceptance, challenge, honesty, and forgiveness. Its aim is inner change, growth, and relief from those painful repeated experiences stemming from within rather than only from life circumstance. My approach is ‘psychodynamic’ – i.e. I’ll at least sometimes focus on the ways in which you unconsciously tend to get in your own way in your relationships with yourself, with me, and with the other people in your life. This involves helping you attend to, bear with, understand, and own – rather than deflect from – your anxieties.

Clinical supervision is offered for those interested in deepening their therapeutic practice through reading the transference and countertransference, bringing the whole self to the therapeutic relationship, developing clarity and rigour, and drawing on the true moral and emotional potentiality of a therapeutic relationship. By profession I’m a chartered Clinical Psychologist registered by the British Psychological Society (no. 147832) and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (no. PYL23937).

I am an accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor, Supervisor, CPD trainer and Coach working both online and in person for the past 20 years. My Practice is based in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. Former roles include University Lecturer, Forensic Psychology and Counselling and Course Lead to a Stage 4 BACP Accredited Gold Standard Counselling Diploma.

My philosophy is Humanistic-Existential adopting an Integrative approach including Person-centred, CBT, DBT, TA, Psychodynamic, Systemic, Transpersonal, Gestalt and Mindfulness-based practices.

The role of an existential psychotherapist is to help you focus on personal responsibility for making decisions.

Offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can share and explore present and past experiences building resilience and positive relationships with friends, parents, siblings, partners, children and work. Helping you with feelings of anxiety, feeling sad, depressed, internalised and externalised anger, the vacuum of loneliness, addictions including alcohol, substances and food, trauma, PTSD, bereavement, personality disorders, eating disorders, abuse, sexuality, compulsive and habitual lying, affairs and betrayals.

I believe each of us is unique with the potential for growth and development and can move forward in our own way. Your motivation to change and our client-therapist relationship provides space for healing.

For many people, the modern world is an increasingly unsettling and anxiety-inducing place. Yet many of the issues we wrestle with today have been wrestled with for millennia.

Trained in Humanistic Existential counselling, I’m a registered counsellor who uses an integrative approach to dealing with suffering in all its forms. I draw on existential analysis, solution-focused practices, evolutionary psychology, and ancient philosophy and wisdom, working with a pace and structure you’re comfortable with.

We’ll work collaboratively towards the insight and clarity needed to live with purpose and confidence. Whether it’s developing targeted practical strategies to address immediate issues or cultivating your own personal philosophy and sense of meaning: we’ll work together to help you towards a fulfilling life which aligns with your values, beliefs and goals.

For me, therapy is about taking a genuine interest in my client’s life and how they experience it, being present, non-judgemental and empathic. I subscribe to the Gestalt paradox that says change comes about when we learn to be who we are and stop trying to be something else.

Every way of being has meaning and holds interest in therapy. We might sometimes focus on the content of your story or history (recent or past) but will also focus on your way of being – that is, how you think or act or make sense of and meaning in the world, how you experience and manage the world physically, what and who matters to you, what is missing from your life or how you stop yourself from being fully you. In terms of training, I am influenced by gestalt and existential theory and themes. This feels like a blend of eastern and western philosophy, often paradoxical but also challenging and grounding too.

There is no fixed model and within safe boundaries, we are free to experiment and develop the therapy sessions based on our unique experiences of them.
